Grants of up to £30,000 over one or two years are available to organisations, including constituted groups, that provide specific health-related activities that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of residents living in one of the following eight northwest London boroughs: Kensington and Chelsea, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Westminster.
- Organisations awarded a Compassionate Communities grant in 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 are not eligible to apply in 2026/27
- Grant requests can be for a minimum of £5,000 and a maximum of £30,000. The amount request must not exceed organisational annual income
- Projects must run for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months
- When demand is high, priority will be given to organisations/groups with lived experience of the issues that they address
Projects and activities must address/help to prevent specific health conditions:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Chronic kidney disease
- Chronic respiratory disease including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, occupational lung diseases and pulmonary hypertension
- Depression/anxiety
- Diabetes
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Obesity
Activities which can be funded include:
- Encouraging a healthy diet and taking regular exercise
- Providing support and information on how/where to access screening (tests) services, and medical treatment for illnesses described above. Information could be, for example, leaflets in relevant languages
- Supporting reducing alcohol intake
- Supporting reducing isolation
- Supporting smoking cessation
How to apply:
Organisations wishing to apply for a Compassionate Communities grant must first take the Eligibility Quiz. They must meet all 6 eligibility criteria in full to be able to apply. If they do not, they will not be able to apply and will not be able to access the application form.
