A total of £3 million is currently available for work to address the underlying factors preventing the economic empowerment of Black and minoritised communities, including but not limited to:
- Campaigning and research to change policy and practice on the disparities across housing, employment, and social welfare.
- Feasibility into the creation of Black owned co-operatives - advocating for structural changes to make business ownership more accessible to Black and minoritised workers and communities.
- Work that looks to narrow the racial wealth gaps through equitable government procurement and commissioning processes, both at the local and central government levels.
- Work to connect more individuals and families from Black and minoritised communities to affordable housing, home-ownership, good jobs, and better wages.
- Black-led Community Land Trusts (CLT’s) as a tool to concentrate community control and protect against low-income resident displacement.
- Measures that address inequalities in pay, such as ethnicity pay gap reporting.
- Addressing pension poverty based on ethnicity, particularly due to high levels of Black and minoritised workers in the gig economy.
There is no minimum or maximum award amount specified. So far, 13 organisations have been awarded grants of between £50,000 and £250,000.
There is a multi-stage application process. Groups should contact the Trust for London Grant Manager to discuss their idea before completing an online eligibility quiz and expression of interest form. Shortlisted groups will then be invited to submit a full application.
Expressions of interest can be submitted at any time.
