Rehabilitation Grants Scheme

Deadline

Voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) in England and Wales can apply for grants of up to £150,000 to deliver rehabilitation projects in prisons, probation and youth custody settings, with the aim of reducing reoffending and strengthening public protection in line with HMPPS strategic priorities.

Grants ranging from £50,000 to £150,000 per financial year are available for projects of between six months and three years in duration. Projects must run between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2029.

The funding aims to help the voluntary sector support HMPPS to:

  • Reduce demand on the Probation Service in the community.
  • Improve resettlement and rehabilitation outcomes for people in prison.
  • Provide vital support to families.

There is particular interest in applications that:

  • Help reduce prison recalls.
  • Support referrals and diversionary activities.

Organisations can apply either individually or as part of a consortium. The voluntary sector organisation(s) receiving the grant should be a registered charity or social enterprise.

There is a two-stage application process.

The deadline for stage one applications is 6 October 2025 (12 noon).
