My Mini Growing Space

Growing Space Project CIC provides £1,600 and 8 weeks of expert guidance to support community groups to develop a "Mini Growing Space" - a small woodland and/or edible teaching garden.

This fund is open to small schools, churches, libraries, communities centres or groups that have available a small unused or derelict outdoor space that they would like to transform into an attractive & educational space for their community. Funds are expected to cover the cost of materials and equipment.

The funder wants to encourage nature lovers to take part and apply so they can grow healthy food, improve the wellbeing and mental health of young people, meet their group/organisation sustainability goals, and learn how to use and maintain their new space successful all year round.

Funded projects will undergo the following 5-step process:

  1. auditing and a site visit of your space by the project expert (in person or in a virtual tour)
  2. design and planning of your mini garden
  3. preparation and sourcing of the right material (to fit your budget and meet your community needs)
  4. execution and construction of the new space
  5. planting & delivery of future workshops/events for your community

A 'Growing Space' expert provides the following support:

  • 1 site visit (in person or a virtual tour, depending on the location of your project)
  • 3 x 1-on-1 sessions sharing expert advice to tackle any challenges you face kickstarting the project
  • 1 Weekly Q&As with your expert for 8 weeks (once your funding is successfully received)

Funded projects also get access to a digital toolkit providing useful knowledge and skills.
