The Kensington + Chelsea Foundation is an independent charity working towards a vision of a borough where everyone can lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. They identify and support impactful local projects that improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Despite having some of the best performing state schools in the country, the borough still has some of the highest inequalities in educational attainment for young people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The 'Closing the Education Gap' fund will prioritise projects which address these educational inequalities, supporting young people struggling at school and at risk of exclusion to achieve their full potential. We are keen to explore partnerships that ensure young people in the borough do not drop out of education and are given the best start in life
The funding pot is £250,000/year and the average grant in the last funding round was £20,000 per year however they are open to applications for larger and smaller amounts. Applications can be for up to three years’ funding.
The deadline for applications is 2 June 2025. Applications will be considered by a panel of young people who will assess how well your proposal meets the aims and criteria of the fund. As part of the process we will invite all shortlisted organisations to answer any follow up questions in person from the panel during the week 7-11 July. We aim to make a decision on all grants by August 2025.
