Core and project grants of up to £40,000 per year for three years are available to non-profit organisations who support disadvantaged children and young people under the age of 18 in the UK.
All projects and organisations must address the programme’s four key strategic outcomes for children and young people:
- Preventing mental health issues
- Alleviating the impact of poverty and deprivation. (This does not cover basic needs and material support where they are a sole focus of a project)
- Reducing social inequity for marginalised children and young people
- Addressing the impact of family related challenges
Activities can include:
- Youth work, including youth and activity-based clubs and detached youth work.
- Family support and play for early years children.
In order to be eligible to apply for either grant your organisation must be:
- Working with children and young people aged 18 years and under.
- Working in the heart of your community.
- Putting children and young people at the centre of everything you do, from design to delivery.
- Addressing challenges faced by children and young people, building their skills and resilience.
- Empowering children and young people, and extending their choices in life.
- Keen to keep learning about and developing their work with children and young people.
- Committed to making a difference in children and young people’s lives.
A Core Costs grant can include funding for:
- Management and administration.
- HR and payroll.
- General office expenses.
- Accountancy and audit.
- Communications and outreach.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
- Governance, regulatory, and compliance costs.
You will need to describe how you would spend a core grant and how it would help you to strengthen your organisation and better support children and young people.
Applications for grants of £15,000 or less per year will receive a quicker decision and will be able to start sooner if successful.
At the moment one in six applications is being funded.
