Bagri Foundation

Deadline

Grants of between £5,000 and £150,000 are available to support artistic projects that promote the sharing of traditional and contemporary Asian culture. Bagri Foundation was established in 1990 with the core aim to cultivate a meaningful space for Asian culture to thrive by supporting high-quality programmes that share Asian culture and provide opportunities for new artistic presentations that sit equal amongst predominant Western narratives.

Grants typically range between 10% to 40% of the total project budget (with occasional exceptions). Groups that wish to apply for more than £75,000 should contact the Foundation before applying.

Funding is for projects that:

  • Promote the sharing of traditional or contemporary Asian culture.
  • Include established or mid-career level artists from Asia or the diasporas.
  • Result in a tangible public outcome.

Funding can be used to support diverse forms of cultural expression, encompassing both traditional and contemporary mediums, such as:

  • Artisan crafts.
  • Exhibitions and biennials.
  • Music.
  • Performing arts.
  • Literature public events.
  • Prizes and awards.

The trustees particularly welcome the following:

  • Projects showcasing craft and materiality, and artistic skillset.
  • Group exhibitions or retrospectives that bring together Asia-inspired concepts, universal themes with strong representation from Asia, or artists who are having their first exhibition in the UK.
  • Film festivals with a wide variety of filmmakers represented.
  • Interdisciplinary practices, dance or music that blend multiple styles, especially those that reimagine traditional instrumentation, movement, and techniques.

Projects must be fully formed with confirmed artists (including visuals unless it's new work/ commissions), planned public outcomes, and established venue partners.
