Trauma-Informed Practice Plus: A Radical Approach – Collective Solutions For Residents And Community Groups

Submitted by zina serageldin on

Workshop Outline

Join us for an inspiring and practical workshop exploring how trauma-informed practice (TIP) can be a powerful tool for creating meaningful change and resilience in our communities.

Facilitated by Arantxa Gaba and Isis Amlak, who successfully championed the integration of TIP into Kensington & Chelsea’s local planning framework, with support from Kensington & Chelsea Social Council and Just Space.

We will explore what TIP really means in practice, why we need a radical approach and why TIP PLUS (TIP+) is necessary. We will examine how these principles can be embedded into planning and assess this approach in the fight for housing justice.

Participants will learn and share how collective organising and community-led solutions are essential to creating safer, healthier environments that reflect residents’ needs. Whether you’re a community organiser, resident, or professional, this workshop will enable you to stand in your power as a changemaker and build resilience through shared action.

Objectives:

  • To understand the core principles of trauma-informed practice (TIP) and its relevance to community-led solutions.
  • To explore why a radical, collective approach (TIP+) is essential for lasting impact.
  • To explore practical steps for effectively integrating TIP into local planning processes
  • To discuss how TIP+ can be applied to improve housing conditions and residents’ quality of life.
  • To highlight the importance of collective organisation and community-led initiatives in driving meaningful change.

Join us to learn, share ideas, and connect with others committed to building safer, more equitable and resilient communities through trauma-informed approaches.
