The Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) is a charity working in partnership with RBKC Council and with local organisations who have supported their Tech4Communities programme, collecting unwanted tech from residents and refurbishing it to give back to the local community to keep.
Applications are open, but spaces are limited. More details, and the online application form can be found here. The paper application form can be printed off and sent by post, or send a photo to [email protected]. Alternatively, text 07984 445 476 with the keyword T4C, your name, street address, and postcode to request a paper application form by post.
Applying is simple. The form will ask a few basic questions to determine eligibility, and then a trusted community member – such as a teacher or Councillor, who is unrelated to the young person – will need to confirm that the recipient would benefit from receiving a laptop. This process helps ensure that support reaches those who need it most.
To qualify, applicants must be living in Kensington and Chelsea and either have a parent or caregiver apply on their behalf, or apply directly if aged above 16. Laptops and tablets are available for residents of all ages, while smartphones are available for residents aged 16 and over. Devices will be distributed fairly to ensure they reach those who will benefit most.
