This course is a collaboration between Groundwork London and Capel Manor College, developed with input from the companies who manage London’s parks and open spaces.
What You’ll Learn
- Maintain plants and species, including safe pesticide use.
- Operate tools like strimmers and powered horticultural machinery.
- On-site health & safety skills, including obtaining a CSCS card.
- Gain insights on climate change and sustainable practices.
- 6 accredited qualifications, recognised in grounds maintenance and landscaping sectors.
- Practical Information
- Physical tasks including planting, pruning, and machinery use.
- Work with soil, organic matter, fertilisers, and sharp tools. It is advisable that your tetanus vaccinations are up-to-date.
- A strong grasp of mathematics is desirable.
- Safety boots and gloves will be provided.
- Bring comfortable warm clothing and a passion for working outdoors.
- A daily bursary is available to cover travel and lunch allowances.
Eligibility
- Must live in a London borough.
- Not in work, training, or education (NEET).
- Aged 18+ with proof of right to work in the UK.
Dates
There are two course start dates available
- First course starts on 3 February
- Second course starts on 24 February
Experience horticulture across London with practical workshops in Belair Park, Southwark, and training at Capel Manor’s prestigious Enfield Campus.
Learn from industry experts, develop hands-on skills, and gain industry recognised qualification in the horticultural sector.
After the Course
- Requires completion to secure an interview.
- Ongoing support from coaches to find employment with one of 50+ industry leading employers.
