Helping older Londoners stay independent in a digital world

From booking GP appointments and accessing the NHS App to staying in touch with family and friends, everyday life is becoming increasingly digital.

For many older adults, this can feel overwhelming. That's why Open Age is helping older Londoners build the confidence and skills they need to stay independent, connected and informed.

As part of its wider mission to help people aged 50+ stay active, stay curious and stay connected, Open Age offers a range of digital support, from one-off drop-in sessions to five and 10-week courses designed to build confidence over time.

Topics include using smartphones, email, WhatsApp, online safety, online shopping, the NHS App and even artificial intelligence (AI).

Open Age member Keith said:

"I have learned to be more confident and how to use different apps. I have learned to use my emails so I am very happy that I took part in this course."

This Good Care Month, Open Age is encouraging older Londoners to see digital skills as another way to maintain independence and stay connected to the people, services and activities that matter most.

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to improve your existing skills, support is available in a friendly, welcoming environment.
