Help support residents to Get Online with recycled devices
RBKC's Citizen Device Recycling Scheme is giving unwanted technology a second life while creating new opportunities for residents experiencing digital exclusion.
Through this borough-wide initiative, donated devices are securely refurbished and made available to residents who may otherwise struggle to access online services, education, employment opportunities, healthcare, benefits and other forms of support.
What devices are available?
A limited number of refurbished devices are now available for voluntary and community sector organisations supporting RBKC residents.
Most available devices are refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad laptops running Windows, alongside smaller numbers of Samsung tablets and Android smartphones. Organisations can indicate their preferred device type, although allocations will depend on stock availability and demand.
Who can apply?
RBKC are inviting applications from voluntary and community sector organisations supporting residents in Kensington and Chelsea who are experiencing digital exclusion.
This may include people who:
- Do not have access to a suitable digital device
- Cannot afford to purchase their own equipment
- Need support accessing online services
- Would benefit from improved access to employment, education, healthcare or community resources
If demand exceeds current availability, organisations are encouraged to register their interest. Additional devices may become available through future donations and refurbishment activity.
How do I apply?
Please complete the application form below. The Digital Inclusion team are particularly interested in hearing from organisations that can identify residents who would benefit most from a device and help ensure it reaches them quickly.
