SPID Theatre is a registered charity and theatre company based in the community rooms of the historic modernist social housing estate of Kensal House in West London. We work  with young people on local social-housing estates across West London, creating community art and performance that is participatory, adventurous and interactive and centred around exploring the rich social and cultural heritage of social-housing in our area.

 

Job Description

This free program for 8-13 year olds nurtures creative expression. Its focus is local young people from North Kensington. It gives them the chance to learn about history, community 

and art. The first session is September 13, happening close to Kensal House estate. Sessions run 4.45-6.15pm on Tuesdays.

 

SPID Theatre is looking for a visual artist/designer and facilitator to work with their 8-13s youth group on the design for a new, permanent sign for the re-opening of SPID's home, the Grade II* listed Kensal House Community Rooms. The facilitator will work with the young people over the course of the project to help them create new lettering, art, images and designs for the sign. They will also work on bringing all of the young people's designs together to create a finished piece. Previous experience in leading art/design workshops, creating visual art/graphic design as well as experience working with young people is essential.

The workshops are happening every Tuesday from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm, and you will be required to be in from 4:15 pm until 6:30 pm, where the first 30 minutes is preparation and the last 15 minutes is feedback with the workshop assistants, Coordinator and the Project Leader.

 

Experience:

  • Experience as a facilitator for 8-13 year olds
