KCSC is thrilled to announce a powerful gathering at Bay 20 on 6 October – part of our Community Development journey, now drawing to a close.
Why this date?
Because it’s World Habitat Day – a UN-designated day to reflect on the state of our homes, our streets, our green spaces, and our right to adequate shelter. It’s about sustainable cities (SDG 11), urban justice, and the truth that we all have the power to shape better living environments. This principle runs through the work undertaken by KCSC, Just Space, and our community partners.
The challenges we face
🏘️ Overcrowded housing, and a chronic shortage of social homes
💰 Wealth existing side-by-side with poverty
🌳 Green space under increasing pressure
🏗️ Gentrification and the commodification of housing squeezing working-class communities
Voices you’ll hear from
- Public Interest Law Centre – housing rights and health rights
- Richard Lee (Just Space) & Fairville London Lab – introducing Towards a Caring City: A Strategic Plan for London
- Arantxa Gaba & Isis Amlak – local campaigners for Trauma-Informed Planning
- Cordelia Cembrowicz (Keep Kensal Green)
- Tim Oshodi, Downham Community Trust – self-build, health equity, and community-led regeneration
A word from Joe, Community Development Manager at KCSC
"As I reach the end of my time at KCSC I invite you to join me at the World Habitat Day 2025 event which KCSC are hosting; to reflect, connect, and take action. Together, we’ll explore how communities can drive housing justice, shape sustainable cities, and build resilience. From the legacy of Grenfell to today’s challenges of inequality and climate, this is about one powerful idea: the right to a safe and inclusive home is something we build together.
Why it matters
💡 This isn’t just an event – it’s a call to action. A space to connect, question, and imagine something better together.
✊ Join us at Bay 20 on 6 October. Bring your energy. Let’s make some noise for homes, habitats, and hope.
