VCS Assembly - Adaptive leadership in uncertain times

Thank you to Penny Wilson who facilitated the VCS Assembly titled Adaptive leadership in uncertain times on 19 November.

It was a great learning session and KCSC will be diving into the feedback to help inform future topics and sector development needs.

Some feedback from participants who attended told us what they hoped to get out of the session such as ‘to gather some insights for weathering the forthcoming storm’ and ‘to think about how to lead the board though a new strategy in challenging times’.

We hope that the session provided just this.  You can view the slides below.

You told us of other challenges including:
•    Accessing/increasing donorship
•    Growing time pressures on Trustees
•    Additional banking and companies house administration
•    Retention of staff
•    Maintaining the diversity of volunteers
•    Keeping up with the London living wage increases
•    Increasing amount of time needed to make funding applications
and barriers to overcoming challenges that can include:
•    Reluctance to new ways of thinking
•    Fear of destabilising the senior staff
•    Lack of diversity within the Board

Finally, we discussed what might be possible such as reviewing what is possible within your current funds/reserves, an organisation restructure and making sure you involve staff, volunteers and clients on new ideas for the future.

We hope to see you at future events.
