As Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) enter their second year as statutory organisations, they face pressing challenges and significant opportunities. They could transform local health systems, but must do so amidst severe operational pressure. They could radically improve populations’ lives, but must attempt this while radically reducing ICB’s own costs. To fulfil ICSs’ potential, making the most of our growing understanding of ICSs and their landscapes will be vital.
This roundtable event brings together ICS leaders and academics working within the sector to pool their developing knowledge about the sector. It will explore what we have learned over ICS’s first year of statutory existence, and in the preceding years of local collaboration. And it will set an agenda for what we want to learn in the future.
