KCSC Summer Garden Party – Reflections and Thanks

On the afternoon of 17 June, KCSC was delighted to host our annual Summer Garden Party, welcoming local stakeholders and partners from across the borough. While the sunshine eluded us, we were grateful for the warm, dry weather that allowed everyone to enjoy the evening in comfort.

We were honoured by the presence of the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Tom Bennett, and the Mayoress, Mrs Beatrice Bennett. The Mayor expressed his appreciation for the ongoing dedication of KCSC and the wider voluntary and community sector, recognising the vital role we all play in supporting residents across the borough.

Following the Mayor’s remarks, KCSC Chair Dr Shelina Thawer welcomed guests and extended her sincere thanks to all who made time to attend. She encouraged everyone to explore the garden, make new connections, and enjoy the opportunity to network in a relaxed and informal setting.

Dr Thawer also shared an important update about KCSC’s future. After many years based at the Museum of Brands, KCSC will be relocating to new premises as part of a wider effort to ensure financial sustainability. In light of current economic challenges, we are exploring more cost-effective ways of working, and we remain committed to keeping our stakeholders informed as plans progress.

The evening concluded with a moving address by Peta, one of the many dedicated gardeners, who spoke passionately about the history and significance of the Memorial Garden. She reflected on its role as a place of remembrance for those who lost their lives to HIV and AIDS, and how the space continues to offer peace, healing, and reflection to all who visit or work there.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful evening. We look forward to reconnecting with you in the autumn and continuing our work together to strengthen our community.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable summer.
