The above Practical Support list is by no means exhaustive. Our team can give you a helping hand with a variety of tasks. We would visit to discuss individual requirements, then assign care assistant who will visit on a regular basis to suit you, whether that is daily, a few times a week, weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as a one off.

Our Care Assistants:
-Are individually matched to customers based on needs assessment
-Are DBS and reference checked
-Receive safety guidance, training and PPE provided by Age UK Kensington and Chelsea

Who is it for?
The service is for adult residents of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster aged 55 years and over, or who have physical and learning difficulties.

How much does it cost?
We charge £22 per hour for Practical Support at home, with no extra charges for weekends, and double charge for public holidays. Age UK K&C are proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer, committed to paying our employees a fair wage that reflects the real cost of living.

The volunteers' aim to build a trusting relationship with the families to help them process their experiences, and support and encourage them to access specialist services where appropriate. These include:
- Befriending - Regular one-to-one visits from a volunteer to provide companionship.
- Escorting - Help from a volunteer to get out and about, including to doctors'/hospital appointments or to the shops.
- Practical Help - Help with simple DIY tasks such as changing light bulbs and putting up shelves.
- Escorted Shopping Trips - Trips to local supermarkets for people with reduced mobility. Minibuses pick up and drop off users at home.
- Decluttering & Falls Prevention - Help with removing clutter and identifying hazards in the home which may cause a fall.
- Group Befriending - A wide range of social groups and activities, including language classes, lunch clubs and concerts.

We offer one-to-one counselling, family therapy and parenting groups. We also provide counselling in schools and run school-based children's groups.

We will be there from 2.30 to 6pm during and after the school run, so we can have a chat with the young people passing, they are also welcome to take leaflets etc.
We will be handing out sweets/chocolates/soft drinks

Thursdays, we will be doing boxersize for the young people.

Fridays, parent’s coffee mornings which will be a chance for our regulars to invite some of the parents who have been affected, we have invited practitioners from mental health and social services to come and give advice.

PAN provides a safe and stable environment for our beneficiaries to talk and deal with difficult emotions. Our counsellors and mentors are here to support our beneficiaries without usually giving advice. Instead, we enable ours users to formulate their own understanding of any issues they may be going through. These include but are not limited to:

- Dealing with life after incarceration and acquisition of life skills.
- Dealing with mild or strong feelings of depression, or low mood and sadness.
- Dealing with mild or strong feelings of anxiety and coping with worry.
- Coping with bereavement and or relationship breakdown.
- Coping with short and long-term redundancy or work-related stress.
- Dealing with identity issues that prevent our beneficiaries from achieving their goals.
- Dealing with low self-esteem issues and a lack of confidence.
