GDPR essentials webinar

Registration is closed for this event
This session will cover General Data Protection Regulations.

GDPR may have originated with the EU, but it's now part of UK legislation, and data protection is just as important as ever.  This session will look at the key responsibilities for any voluntary organisation, large or small, to ensure that you comply with the law when you use personal data, but don't give yourself unnecessary obstacles.  It takes a pragmatic approach, using examples relevant to voluntary organisations.  For those who are already aware of data protection and GDPR it will consolidate your knowledge, but it is also suitable for those with little previous involvement.

Topics covered include:

  • Key definitions - data controller, personal data and suchlike
  • How to decide your lawful basis for processing
  • Complying with the data protection principles
  • The relationship between data protection and confidentiality
  • Managing data protection in your organisation

There will be a second session discussing your GDPR policy and what should be included on 3 February. You can book it here

Paul Ticher has been well known for over 25 years as one of the leading experts on data protection in the voluntary sector.  He is the author of Data Protection for Voluntary Organisations, whose fourth edition is published in January 2021.
