  Justice for All - the campaign for free legal advice
The Social Council and some of the borough's advice agencies are backing the Justice for All Campaign which aims to safeguard legal aid provision. Current legal aid reforms proposals will severely limit advice on welfare benefits, employment, housing and debt. Sign up to the campaign.

Would you like to be a Social Council trustee?
The Social Council AGM will take place on Thursday 17 November as part of our 'Shaping the Future' conference. We will be re-electing our trustee board and are inviting any representative of a member organisation to put themselves forward. The closing date for nominations is Tuesday 15 November.

New features to help you use the Social Council website
We have added new functionality to help you make better use of the Social Council website. You can now easily share information you find via your social networks and keep informed of site updates via RSS subscription.

  Shaping the Future - KCSC Conference and AGM 2011
Thursday 17 November, 9.15am - 4pm, London Lighthouse
Share your vision and help shape our future at our annual conference. This group is for people working in the borough's voluntary and community sector who have a lead responsibility, whether, you are a senior, middle or junior manager you are welcome to attend. RSVP

Engaging Communities Voluntary Organisations Forum
Wednesday 16 November, 10am -12pm, Kensington Town Hall
This meeting will feature a presentation and discussion on the new public sector equality duty and a short film on benefit changes and the support available. RSVP

NHS K&C Innovation Grants 2011-12
Deadline: Monday 21 November - 9am  

NHS Kensington & Chelsea is making small grants of up to £5,000 available for voluntary and community organisations serving residents of Kensington & Chelsea. The fund aims to help local organisations test or pilot a new idea or way of working, in relation to health and well-being.

Team London Micro Grants
Deadline: Friday 4 November -  5pm (submission of interest) 
Team London Micro Grants will help smaller, unconstituted and/or grassroots voluntary sector and community organisations with an annual turnover of less than £10,000 seeking to increase their volunteering capacity.

Kellogg’s Swim Active Programme Grant 
Grants are available to fund community based swimming projects.There is no limit to the amount you can apply for but the project must run from January 2012 to April 2012.

The Social Investment Fund
Deadline: Wednesday, 2 November - 12pm 
Funds are available for organisations to create new social action opportunities to encourage people to give what they have, be it time, money, assets, knowledge or specific skills.

RBKC Corporate Services Small Grants Fund 
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has launched the second round of its Corporate Services Small Grants fund for the voluntary and community sector. A total of £7,000 is available in grants of up to £1,500 which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Earl’s Court Health and Wellbeing Centre Pre-launch Open Day
Monday 14 November - 12pm - 3pm, 2b Hogarth Road, Earl’s Court, SW5 0PT 
This pre-launch event is specifically for local services, organisations and groups operating in Kensington & Chelsea and is an opportunity for you to find out more about the new Centre and to register your interest in hiring space in the Centre’s community resource areas, if relevant for you.

New Telephone Advice Line Launched

A new free telephone advice line has been launched to support residents in Kensington and Chelsea. 
6 fully trained volunteers will assess the needs of callers looking for advice and direct them to the most appropriate advice service possible.

English and Maths Teacher Required
The Moroccan Community Project seeks two qualified teachers (one for English, one for Maths) to teach core subjects in their supplementary school. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching from Year 5 to GCSE and available to start ASAP. 

Somali Online Researcher - no previous experience required
We are Human Digital, an online research company. Our offices are based in close proximity to Oxford Circus Tube Station. We are looking for a Somali in London for a five months project. Work will take place at our office, either full or part time.
