KCSC's office will be closed from Thursday 24 December 2020 reopening on Monday 4 January 2021. This will be the last e-bulletin of 2020.

Sector News

What the sector told us about the impact of Covid-19 during 2020

Covid-19 created a wave of action across the voluntary and community sector as well as across informal groups and individuals at neighbourhood level.

During 2020 KCSC has held a series of meetings to understand what the impact of Covid-19 has been on the sector and its client groups; we also conducted a survey to gain a deeper understanding of the issues.

RBKC - Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Reduction Strategy

The Council have implemented a five-year Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Reduction Strategy and accompanying 12-month Action Plan.

In the near future the Council will establish a Homelessness Forum whose membership will include Council services, statutory partners, community agencies, and residents.

Independent review finds Westway Trust institutionally racist.

The report by the Tutu Foundation was published on Friday 11 December 2020.

KCSC are hiring!

We are looking an individual to join our Health and Wellbeing Team as Health and Wellbeing Project Officer.

This role will support the Health & Wellbeing Manager in the project-management of Voluntary and Community Sector health and wellbeing programmes funded by West
London Clinical Commissioning Group and lead on the day to day coordination of the North Kensington Self-Care Programme.

KCSC Events and Training

RBKC Council Support for Voluntary Organisations

RBKC Council undertook an independent review of the Corporate Services Grant programme in 2020 and is looking to shape a new funding programme.

KCSC are working with the Council’s Community Engagement Team to host a workshop (with 2 different dates available) inviting voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations to be involved in shaping the future programme.

North Kensington Health and Wellbeing Network

These meetings will bring together Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations working with communities in North Kensington which provide services that aim to support and improve people’s wellbeing.

This meeting is for representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea. It is not open to members of the public.

Health and Wellbeing Forum

Tuesday 26 January 2021, 10:00am - 11:30pm

This Forum is for all voluntary sector health and wellbeing professionals in Kensington and Chelsea.

This meeting is for representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea. It is not open to members of the public.

Grant Fundraising for Beginners

Wednesday 27 January 2021, 10:00am - 12:30pm

This workshop is ideal for organisations new to grant fundraising. It will be delivered by KCSC via Zoom to help you learn how to apply for small grants.

The workshop is particularly suitable for small voluntary organisations or those new to fundraising. Follow up support will also be available.

This training is for representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea. It is not open to members of the public.

Large Grant Fundraising

Organisations working in Kensington and Chelsea are invited to attend this Large Grant Fundraising training session, which will provide you with the understanding and skills required to find and secure grant funding, and develop long lasting relationships with funders.

This training is for representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea. It is not open to members of the public.

Connecting London is a partnership of Change Grow Live services across the London area. They have put together a timetable of events being held over the festive season.

ADKC: Helplines and emergency numbers for the festive period

Action Disability Kensington and Chelsea (ADKC) have complied a list of emergency numbers that may be useful over the festive period.

3D JOY Festival 2020

United Collective Arts Nclusion are holding a community led virtual festival dedicated to Grenfell Tower.

Corona Kids are currently delivering a welfare telephone support service to London Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Families (BAME) with a family member in prison.

Youth Action Alliance: Staying Connected

The Staying Connected project works with young people aged 10 to 19 years facing multiple challenges during the COVID pandemic, including those with disabilities, English as an additional language, leaving the criminal justice system and young parents.

Youth Action Alliance: The Digital Stop

The Digital Stop is an online programme for young people 11-19 years old, and up to 25 learners with learning difficulties or disabilities (LLDD). The programme, includes various interactive activities that young people can get involved in virtually.

Youth Action Alliance: The Market Project

The Market Project is a free programme for aspiring entrepreneurs, giving opportunities to young people 16-21 to access a combination of skills development, support, professional guidance, and training via an interactive online platform with mentoring throughout.
