  KCSC AGM and Conference 2011

Our AGM and Conference will be a day of looking forward and shaping the future role of the voluntary and community sector in Kensington and Chelsea.  Keynote speakers will inspire vision for the future and we want you to be part of this important event.  By the end of the day you have will a better understanding of how to respond to the current changing environment and of positive change management. Managers Support Group
Monday 3 October, 12pm - 2pm, Rm 7 London Lighthouse
This group is for people working in the borough's voluntary and community sector who have a lead responsibility,whether, you are a senior, middle or junior manager. This meeting will gather thoughts on a joint bid the Social Council is doing with CASH, VCKC, MRCF and K+C Foundation to improve infrastructure support. RSVP

Health Voluntary Organisations Forum
Monday 17 October, 10am - 12.30pm, St Charles Hospital
This new twice-yearly forum is for all those working to improve community health or reduce health inequalities. This meeting will include presentations from newly funded organisations and a networking lunch. Attendees are invited to bring along project promotional material for a shared display area. RSVP

RBKC Adult Social Care Annual Grant Funding 2012-2013
Deadline: Friday 28 October, 12pm
The 2012-2013 round of funding will be going live from Monday 3rd October. Guidance notes and application forms will be available on the Social Council website. There will no longer be an application form for £10,000 or less. Applicants can apply for grants up to £20,000 or between £20,001 and £50,000.

Big Lottery Realising Ambition programme
Organisations can apply for grants of up to £3 million to support projects that help young people between the ages of 8 and 14 years avoid pathways into offending. Funding is available for between three and five years and will be offered with a package of tailored specialist support and technical assistance.

Empowering the Voluntary Sector - Using the principles of public law and the Compact
Wednesday 5 October, 9:30am - 4:30pm, London Lighthouse
Small organisations often feel helpless when they are informed from on high that their funding is being withdrawn or services are being cut. This training will give you the information and support you need to challenge unjust decisions taken by public bodies. The award winning Empowering the Voluntary Sector workshop will be delivered by NAVCA in conjunction with Compact Advocacy and the Public Law Project. BOOK HERE 
 
Preparing for tenders workshop (for smaller organisations)
Tuesday 11 October, 11am - 1.00pm
This hands-on practical workshop will guide you through the information that is currently needed for pre-qualification questionnaires, and will help organisations be ready to take part in consortium bids for contracts. This event is aimed at organisations with a turnover of less than £200,000 per year, and particularly those that are thinking about getting involved in bidding for contracts.

Free 2 Day - Mental Health Awareness Training
Friday October 21  and 28, Chelsea Theatre or
Friday November 18 and 25 – north of borough (TBA)
How would you respond to a family member, friend, work colleague or client who may be experiencing mental health support needs? This training that will enable you to recognise the signs and symptoms as early as possible, know how to respond in an appropriate way and provide support leading to recovery.

Apply to be part of the Desta Health and Social Care Consortium
Desta Health & Social Care Consortium invites local voluntary organisations and social enterprises to apply for membership. To make an application for membership you will first have to register with the Directory of Voluntary Organisations. The closing date for registrations is Friday 14 October and the deadline for applications is Sunday 23 October.

Understanding the new Health System
A useful 4 page briefing produced by NCVO, NAVCA and Regional Voice can help voluntary and community organisations understand the changes to the health system. The briefing gives a simple overview of which organisations will be important at a local level in this new health agenda and advice on how to engage with and influence them. 

Your views needed: prioritising areas of patient choice
Your views are being sought by NHS North West London regarding what 3 services should be prioritised to extend the choice of any qualified provider. You can respond online, choosing from a set list of services before 10th October 2011.

Chelsea Community Markets - Volunteers needed!

Are you passionate about affordable healthy living and healthy eating? We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers to help us run our weekly markets. Main duties include setting up the market stalls, pricing & displaying the produce, operating the till during sales, registering customers to our membership scheme, promoting our Cook and Taste courses.

Get advice on a career in the catering industry
If you are interested in a career in the catering industry why not get some advice from someone who knows what they are talking about. An ex Catering Manager at White and Case Global Law Firm will be on hand to offer you one-to-one support on Tuesday 11th October from 3-5pm at The ClementJames Centre. This offer is only open to the first 4-5 individuals who reply.

You're Invited To Attend A Rare Screening Of Pressure

Saturday 1 October,  7:30pm, Portobello Pop Up Cinema
Set in Ladbroke Grove and focusing on one Black teenager's attempt to find his way in a hostile society. Shot in a gritty realist style it captures the spirit of the 70s. Excellent performances, but what surprises is how critical and relevant Britain's first black feature film still is.

Happy Healthy Family Club Launch

The Women’s Association for African Networking and Development WAND UK invites you to join them for the launch of the Happy Healthy Family Club and a lunch. The Happy Healthy Family Club aims to promote health and wellbeing in Black and Minority Ethnic Families.
