The Spirit of Activism Conference Launches Campaign to Tackle Golborne Deprivation

The ‘Spirit of Activism’ Conference gathered together local residents, campaigners and the voluntary sector on Thursday 15 March to discuss ways in which lobbying and activism could be used to effect positive change in Kensington and Chelsea.

The conference heard from distinguished speakers including Toby Blume from Urban Forum, Harmit Kambo from the Sheila McKechnie Foundation and Neil Jameson from Citizens UK. Workshops discussed neighbourhood planning, how to utilisie the Localism Act and ways to build winning campaigns.

Infrastructure Support Boost for the Local Voluntary Sector

Charitable organisations in Kensington and Chelsea are set to benefit from greater coordination and services as local support agencies are awarded £379,280 in funding to develop closer links.

The Office for Civil Society has awarded five local support agencies funding for 18 months to transform the way services are delivered and to develop ways to make long term savings.

We are pleased to announce that Harmit Kambo, Sheila McKechnie Foundation has been added to our list of speakers. He will join Toby Blume, Chief Executive of Urban Forum and Neil Jameson, Executive Director at Citizens UK.

This conference will ask what activism is, what it can achieve and what we can do to make a difference.

Facing the Future report released

The third and final report in our State of the Sector series gathers together evidence from our Effects of the Cuts and KCSC Imapct surveys to show how the local voluntary and community sector is coping through this period of economic uncertainty and how KCSC aims to provide the right support to sustain and shape the sector in the future.

Shaping the Future - Conference report

Up to 70 participants from across Kensington and Chelsea’s voluntary and community sector mixed with councillors and local statutory officers at Shaping the Future, the Social Council Conference and AGM on Thursday 17 November.

The outlook for the local sector was the theme of the day and discussion focussed on how organisations could continue to support local residents in the years ahead.

Hands-on support for smaller organisations

Practical workshop for smaller organisations – preparing for tenders
Tuesday 11 October, 11am – 1pm

  • This hands-on practical workshop will guide you through the information that is currently needed for pre-qualification questionnaires, and will help organisations be ready to take part in consortium bids for contracts.
  • We will also discuss ideas for further workshops.

Understanding the Changing Environment

On Friday 17th June, voluntary and community organisations from across Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham came together for the second year to hold a joint Funding Fair.

The event offered a wide range of information stalls and workshops, giving all who attended a wider view of the range of support services available to the sector in addition to funding advice. In the afternoon organisations used the opportunity to look together at the impact on tri-borough and localism, discussing its's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new online searchable directory of voluntary and community sector organisations. You can search for organisations by name or based on the services the provide or the communities they support.

Search results will provide you with contact details, mapping and a brief description of activities and purpose.
