The theme for this year is "working together to prevent suicide". Given the wide range of factors that can influence an individual becoming suicidal, it is impossible for a single entity or organisation to prevent suicides alone.
The City of London Corporation and Business Healthy work in partnership with many stakeholders, including the City of London Police, Samaritans, the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA), the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), the local business community and others, to support those in distress, so that they do not feel that taking their own life is the only solution.
Employers in the City play a crucial role within this, helping to raise awareness among their workforce and also in upskilling their staff in mental health literacy.
Business Healthy are hosting another Samaritans-led Suicide Prevention Awareness Training session, in partnership with Clifford Chance, on Thursday 4 October. This workshop provides HR, wellbeing, facilities and security leads with the skills to assist someone who may be at crisis point and provides a wealth of knowledge and insight in a short space of time (two hours).
