Volunteers wanted for Grenfell Anniversary weekend

The Volunteer Centre Kensington & Chelsea have been asked to help recruit volunteers for two events over the anniversary weekend of the fire at Grenfell Tower.

On the 14th of every month there is a silent march for the community to pay their respects and this month's is expected to be the biggest yet.
The first of the below events will be at St Marks Park for the Community Iftar which will happen after this month's silent march.
 
Event 1: Community Iftar 
Role: Volunteers to help with setting up, stewarding, serving food & clearing away – further details will be given at the briefing.
Date: Thursday 14th June 2018
Time: 5pm – 11pm
Location: Kensington Memorial Park (St Mark’s Park), St Mark’s Road, W10 6BZ
Additional information:  Volunteers required to attend a briefing this Saturday 9th June from 1-3pm at St Marks Park, W10 6BZ which will be run by the Ramadan Tent Project.

  • Refreshments provided throughout the event for volunteers, including evening meal.
  • T-shirts will be distributed on the day and volunteers will be paired together.
  • There are approximately 3-4000 people expected for this event so the organisers will have all the relevant security/health and safety measures in place with NHS & CNWL outreach teams around to help support.
  • Further information will be provided at the Ramadan Tent Project's briefing on Saturday. 

 
Event 2: Family Fun Day
Role: Helping set up and clear away, signposting to activities/services & stewarding
Date: Saturday 16th June 2018               
Time:
11:30am -7pm
Location: Kensington Memorial Park (St Mark’s Park), St Mark’s Road, W10 6BZ
Additional information: Refreshments provided and travel expenses up to £10 can be claimed – receipts required.

  • Less people expected for this event but it will still be busy - again all the relevant security/ health and safety procedures will be in place with NHS & CNWL outreach teams around to help support.

Once confirmed Carrie Hirst will forward on the relevant contact person for each event and will be at both to help and as a contact in case of any problems.
