Impact Wave 3: Programme to support refugees and migrants

Organisation:
Groundwork

Some spaces are available for participants to join Impact's activities for their next wave, starting on 12 January 2021.

Impact works to support migrants and refugees in Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Kensington & Chelsea (although they currently accept participants living in any London borough while they are online).

Activities fall into three categories:

  • Community activities - crafts, gardening and cooking sessions, with a focus on wellbeing and supporting English learning (including a free art pack sent to participants)
  • Employment advice - 1 to 1 guidance and tailored support, as well as monthly "Meet the Expert" workshops and topic-specific workshops such as confidence building and job search skills
  • Language support - conversational English and 1 to 1 support. This wave we have partnered with Counterpoints Arts and have a visiting artist with lived experience who will facilitate some of the sessions (including a free art pack sent to participants)

Impact will also be facilitating a few Living Well sessions, including managing energy use at home and how to save money on bills, sexual and reproductive health, and managing mental health. Please get in touch for more details of these - the next, focusing on mental wellbeing in connection to nature, will be on Wednesday 27 January 2021.

For all the timings of our sessions please visit the website

Holistic support for participants is also provided, working to create a personal integration plan, and signposting and referring them for any needs they have beyond what we offer.

Eligibility
Migrants from outside the EU with Leave to Remain or Settlement Status, including people with refugee status, are eligible for the programme.
Unfortunately, at this time Asylum Seekers or British citizens can not be accepted as participants.

Location
Once we are in person we will be delivering out of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
There are no restrictions to residents of these boroughs, so long as participants can travel to these locations. Impact can pay travel expenses.
While delivering online, participants living in any London borough are welcome to attend.
