100 Year Anniversary for Women gaining the Vote 1918

The Royal Borough is holding a special Community Tea party on Sunday 8th July 2018 in Kensington Town Hall to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Women gaining the Vote.  Over 400 older residents from across the Royal Borough will receive invitations to attend a memorable afternoon in the uniquely decorated Grant hall.  The event has been organized by a team of volunteers from the police, council and the voluntary sector.

The activities will also include two seminars in North Kensington focusing on challenges and achievements and an Intergeneration Open Day in the National Army Museum in Chelsea.
We are asking the local businesses to support this community event with contributions of food, soft drinks and donations to help guarantee the success of this unique opportunity of bringing the communities together.

Three additional events:
The Al-Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Project will hold a seminar on 5th July to celebrate Moroccan Women’s challenges and achievements in coming to a new country and coping with a different culture and values.

Action Disability Kensington and Chelsea will hold a seminar in October to address challenges that disabled women face in the work market and in society.  What needs to change to give all disabled women equal opportunity.   A number of workshops will be held to develop the seminar’s programme.

The National Army Museum will hold an Intergeneration Open Day to focus on World War One Centenary. 120 students from local secondary schools and 80 local residents will participate in a unique day of discovery, music and talks. Sharing stories and learning new things and enjoying new experiences.
