Advocacy Project launch Peer Mentoring Course

The Advocacy Project

The Advocacy Project is a locally based charity, providing mental health advocacy services. They are going to be running a mental health peer mentoring course funded by Westminster Adult Education Service. The course aims to support those who have experienced mental health to build their knowledge and skills in peer mentoring, so that they can use their mental health experience to positively support others with mental health difficulties. This will help participants to become socially connected, being able to talk about their experience without stigma and taboo and develop opportunities for employment and training. After the completion of the course there are possibilities to become a peer mentor with The Advocacy Project.

They will be running taster sessions and two week courses over various locations, the next course is at The Beethoven Centre Third Avenue, Queen’s Park. W10 4JL, the taster session will take place on the 7 March 13.00 – 15.00pm to find out if peer mentoring is of interest, after this the course will be delivered over two weeks at The Beethoven Centre on the 21 March 10.00 – 3.30pm and 28 March 10.00 – 3.30pm giving an insight into peer mentoring and helping participants to go into further training, volunteering opportunities and employment with different partners.
