The Grenfell Network Group

The Grenfell Network Group

The Grenfell Network Group, is a collaboration of residents, councillors and voluntary agencies that emerged from a meeting organised by Kensington and Chelsea Social Council in the weeks following the fire at Grenfell Tower.

It meets to share ideas and issues related to North Kensington's recovery, invites speakers and facilitates the development of local capacity to feed into democratic processes.

In the last year, we contributed to the development of a Charter for Public Participation for RBKC. You can see the dna of our own paper in the council's version which was satisfying for the group, though we recognise there is still some way to go to achieve the vision we had set out for them in our own submission. Unfortunately the year didn't pan out as we had hope, as we are sure is the case for everyone with Covid 19. We held a number of meetings online but recognised that in doing so we had failed to reach those who are digitally excluded and in fact seldom had many local residents in attendance - something which was not an issue when we met in the real world. Once Covid19 restricts are lifted we will redouble our efforts to reach out in order to knit all our stakeholders into a united voice to achieve the changes in local democracy, resources and voice required by our community.
