Combining the UK's oldest adventure playground with a vibrant community centre and London’s only purpose-built steel pan rehearsal room, the Venture Community Association (known locally as “The Venture Centre”) is located in the heart of Golborne, North Kensington.
During the coronavirus lockdown, it is operating as a drop-in food bank on Wednesday and every other Saturday, see full details here. It is also the warehouse distribution point for supplying food around the borough.
They have just released a short film covering their current activities which you can see here.
The film has interviews with the Venture's Head of Operations, Pattrina Quashie-Ferguson, Senior Play Worker, Melissa Richards and Director, William Roberts. They talk about how Venture has supported a local school in providing child care services to key workers and how it works as a food bank. Joe Batty from Kensington and Chelsea Social Council talks about how the Centre operates as a warehouse and the type of food it supplies to vulnerable residents.
