KCSC will be sending out weekly bulletins in relation to the borough’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak – and more frequent bulletins should the need arise – to ensure that there is effective communication, shared widely.
KCSC continues to attend daily virtual meetings of the Community Resilience group hosted by RBKC council, including key stakeholders such as the NHS, Public Health, Volunteer Centre K&C and other local organisations.
The Council’s Single Point of Access helpline has been running for some time, and signposts residents to other sources of support including numerous voluntary and community organisations. The Council has now added an online route for residents into the Under-65 food distribution offer (see below).
KCSC has been in discussion with sector partners, and RBKC Council, about a 'shopping' offer for vulnerable people unable to access food for themselves, who aren't eligible for food distribution services. See below for details of how to access this service on behalf of eligible residents.
Voluntary and Community Sector services
Under-65 food distribution service
KCSC, in partnership with RBKC and the Volunteer Centre Kensington and Chelsea as part of the Community Resilience Group, supported by the Venture Centre, Bay 20 and Smart, have launched a food distribution service for vulnerable individuals and families who are under 65.
Applications for the service can be made as follows:
- By organisations using a standard referral form which is then sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- The form can be completed over the phone, by organisations or individuals calling RBKC's Single Point of Access helpline on 020 7361 4326.
- Individuals can also access the referral form online via the Council website.
KCSC is keen to increase the number of referrals into this service; it has been promoted widely but we still have fewer than we’d have expected in particular from the south of the borough. Organisations, community groups and others are asked to ensure that all of their service-users or other contacts who may be eligible for the service are aware of it.

Age UK K&C, with many local partners (as per previous updates), is leading on providing additional support for people of 65 and older. Free Care packages with food and basic essentials will be delivered to people over 65 who:
- Are self-isolating
- Live alone (or with a partner also over 65 also self-isolating)
- Do not have local support networks who can bring food and supplies to them
- Have consented to receive the service

Information needed from organisations - what services are you currently running?
KCSC continues to gather and update information from organisations about services that are now in place to support residents and the Covid-19 response, so that enquiries can be signposted effectively, including from the council’s main helpline. We also need to know if your situation changes eg you can’t take any more referrals for a time.
