Early this year following a recruitment drive for new trustees and a new Chair, Shelina Thawer was invited to join the Board as KCSC's Chair.
Shelina comes with a strong voluntary and community sector background both in the UK and internationally and, as Board member of the Citizens Advice Bureau Kensington and Chelsea, has an understanding of the concerns of the communities in the borough and the challenges they face. This understanding is incredibly important to KCSC as an organisation and Shelina’s experience and knowledge will assist in supporting KCSC to deliver on its charitable purposes.
Shelina, coming in as the new Chair, sees the end of Michael Bach's Chairmanship of KCSC after many years. Michael saw through the merger of Nottinghill Social Council and the Chelsea Social Council back in 2002 and continued to lead the charity until earlier this year.
Shelina Thawer, Chair of KCSC states: "Following Michael Bach’s dedicated leadership at KCSC, I feel honoured and privileged to have been selected for this position. As the organisation celebrates its 60th anniversary of working with and representing voluntary and community organisations and residents in this vibrant borough, I am committed to working with the board and staff in realising KCSC’s ambitions and aspirations for the future, and those of its partners".
Angela Spence, CEO of KCSC states: "I really look forward to working with Shelina and with new trustees on the Board who also joined alongside Shelina. I'm confident that the leadership of KCSC will be as strong as it was whilst Michael was Chair".
Dr. Shelina Thawer will be officially welcomed at KCSC's AGM on 12th November 2020 and members will have the opportunity to meet her for the first time.
