The Reader runs weekly groups where we bring people together to read novels, short stories, plays and poems, creating a space for people to be together, share thoughts and have personal reflections. Trained Reader Leaders read the stories aloud to the group each week and all our sessions are free to attend, so everyone--no matter their background or ability--can join in. Group members are welcome to read aloud, join the discussions or sit back and enjoy a good story. Shared Reading is about making personal connection – what the literature makes us feel, the meaning it holds for each of us, and the shared experiences we discover through discussions.
The Reader has been running Shared Reading groups in Kensington & Chelsea since 2010. We run groups across the borough each week in libraries, community centres, hospitals, and day centres. Please contact us for a list of our weekly groups.

Social connection and being part of your community is vital for local groups and their members but getting from A to B in London can be challenging especially if you have mobility issues. Westway CT works with lots of community groups to make travel possible for them.

Westway CT helps community groups, like the Dalgarno Trust, The Creighton Centre, and Minds United FC with community transport that’s affordable and accessible, helping groups across Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham to travel to meetings, events and activities. We also run a free weekly shopper bus service for local residents who can access this when they join independently as individual members from £12 pa.

We’ve been in the area for 30 years and our fleet of 42 vehicles includes accessible minibuses, midi-coaches, cars and a goods vehicle. Find out more here:www.westwayct.org.uk

Join as a Group member from £35pa for K&C groups and £75 pa for other boroughs and benefit from subsidised rates for both passenger and goods vehicles, plus we offer MiDAS minibus driver training so that local groups can reduce their travel costs further.
