UK Youth Fund - Covid Relief

Wednesday, 25 November 2020 - 5:00pm

Grants of up to £50,000 are available for small organisations that support young people and have not had access to the crisis funding they require to survive the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding is intended to prevent closures of youth organisations as a result of the COVID-19 crisis and to support the adaptations needed to ensure high quality essential services to young people can continue in both the short and long term.

he funding is for organisations that deliver direct services for vulnerable young people.

The grants can be used to cover costs such as the following:

  • Staff salaries.
  • Project running costs.
  • Running costs/overheads.
  • Goods and equipment which would not be capitalised (eg, to develop enhanced physical environment and allow organisations to continue to deliver services).
  • Organisational development.

Applications will be assessed focusing on the following four key areas:

  • The impact of the organisation’s work for the young people they serve.
  • The impact of COVID-19 on the organisation’s ability to meet the needs of the young people.
  • The impact of the funding if the organisation’s application would be successful.
  • If the organisation supports young people who are most affected by systemic oppression and discrimination. This includes Black, Asian and other groups who experience racism; deaf/disabled people; those who identify as sitting at the intersections of several minoritized identities; those who identify as LGBT+; those who have not had financial support growing up.

The funding will be awarded over two different periods:

  • The immediate short-term: from 1 January 2021 until 31 March 2021.
  • The medium-term: from 1 April 2021 until 31 March 2022.

Organisations can request funding to cover both periods or just one, but they must spent the funding within that specific time period. What the organisation requests funding for does not have to be the same for both periods.
