KCSC are excited to announce Head_Space, a brand new series of talks and interactive workshops designed to spark fresh thinking, innovation and inspiration, for an audience of socially focussed organisations.
The first event is themed around the Power of Communities, where we will host a series of speakers for ‘Ted talk’ style presentations with the aim of showcasing the strength, resilience and impact of local communities on place shaping. The event will close with a 20 minute live Q&A giving attendees the chance to discuss ideas and hear thoughts from the panel.
Speakers
- Zakiya Amlak is a local resident, volunteer and filmmaker who has lived in Ladbroke Grove her entire life. Zakiya’s talk will focus on the value of community projects and clubs for building lasting connections and cohesion between young people.
- Patrick Mulrenan is an Associate Professor of Learning and course leader in Community Development and Leadership at London Metropolitan University, with a professional background in Housing Associations, Local Authorities and the Audit Commission. Patrick’s talk will examine the growth of homelessness and increasing use of temporary accommodation in London, and the challenges of including homeless households in local communities.
- Moyra Samuels is a local activist, campaigner and a founding member of Justice4Grenfell, with decades of experience advocating for human rights at a local, national and international level. Moyra’s talk will explore what makes a strong and supportive community and the vital importance of community resilience.
Food and refreshments will be provided.
The event is completely free for residents and organisations working with residents living in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
