Managing Your Board led by Tesse Akpeki, governance expert

This workshop is suitable for trustees and the staff members and will look at how to operate effectively and harmoniously

This interactive workshop will cover such issues as;

  • the steps you can take to strengthen your board, to manage its performance and to confront the problems of ‘challenging behaviours’ and poor performance
  • what do you do when there is no recognition that there is a problem?
  • how do you adjust to a fast pace of change with fewer resources and even more expectations?
  • what do you do when the nature of the challenge is not in doubt, but the nature of the solution is?

Managing Risk led by staff from the Social Council

This workshop is suitable for trustees and staff members and will look at managing risk in your organisation, particularly when going though a process of change

It is part of the role of charity trustees and senior workers to regularly review risks to their organisations and put in place steps to manage them. Risks to consider can be wide ranging, from a database crashing to a cut in funding to fraud.  This workshop will discuss and share experiences of managing such risks. It will also offer some guidance on undertaking a simple risk assessment at board level to help you ensure your organisation is proactive rather than reactive when it comes to managing risks.

Who should attend? The conference is open to any trustees or potential trustees as well as senior workers of voluntary and community organisations operating in the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster.
