Introduction to Community and Events Fundraising

The session will give an overview of event and community fundraising and how they go hand in hand.


This session looks at what is involved in organising fundraising events mainly within a community setting. Event fundraising can take many different forms, from very formal, high profile events, to smaller community-based activities.  We will cover the internal preparation needed, how to make use of your volunteers and how to approach this type of fundraising in a strategic manner. 




  • An understanding of what is events fundraising and the various approaches; touching on the concept of community fundraising
  • A look at how community and events can go hand in hand
  • A look at what preparation needs to be in place before finalising the community events action plan
  • How to be more strategic when approaching this type of fundraising
  • How to use volunteers more effectively.
  • A  brief look at who is your community and/or audience
  • Very brief mention of event sponsorship and what to prepare

The event is completely free for voluntary and community organisations working with residents living in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
