A New Way of Learning for 2012

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is offering another way of learning in addition to training room based courses.

A Guided Learning/distance learning option followed by a training room session involving revision and an examination is available. This is subject to tutor support availability, a room for revision and examination, and certainty that the business operator will supervise, and instruct and/or train their learners in turning the theory into practical application.

The Guided Learning programmes are open to four or more learners in a business where the exam is to be conducted in the premises.

Individuals may apply to go on a waiting list and the Council will organise the examination date when there are sufficient numbers to attend at the Council Offices.

Learners can study qualification awards (where available) ranging from Level 1 to 3 is available then the following may be studied:food safety,HACCP, health and safety, COSHH, safe moving and handling, fire safety, and infection control.

Learners will receive (where available) a course book, advice on an appropriate weblink, handouts, and a workbook. These must be completed before attending a revision and exam session. The awarding body is Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (www.highfieldabc.com) .

The advantages to a business include: slightly reduced fees compared to a training room based course, shorter attendance time in a training room, and supervisory involvement in staff learning.

The Council reserves the right to withdraw, cancel or postpone it Guided Learning programme at short notice. It reserves the right to select what it may consider appropriate businesses that can demonstrate they support their learners.
