On the Radar database was set up by London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC) in October 2011. It contains in-depth information about voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations that deliver public health services in London.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new online searchable directory of voluntary and community sector organisations. You can search for organisations by name or based on the services the provide or the communities they support.

Search results will provide you with contact details, mapping and a brief description of activities and purpose. 

Children's Services Consortium consultation event

  • A consortium for local organisations delivering services to children, young people and families is being set up, ready for tri-borough commissioning in October 2012.
  • Local organisations working with children and families attended a 2-day business development session on 29 & 30 June 2011.
  • Membership of the consortium will open later in the year.

Somali Network

The 'Somali Network' brings together Somali organisations working in Kensington & Chelsea.

Somali organisations in the borough play an important role in supporting and representing the Somali community In Kensington and Chelsea.  The Somali Network brings together some of these organisations to look at where the opportunities lie for joint work and sharing good practice.  The report ‘The Somali Diaspora in Kensington and Chelsea’ is a result of all local Somali organisations contribution to its development.

The Social Council services a consortium of approx 50 local organisations that wish to bid for public sector contracts in partnership.

Compact

What is the Compact?

The Compact is an agreement between national Government and the Voluntary and Community Sector. It was originally developed in November 1998 to improve the relationship between the two parties, and was made up of codes of good practice, outlining the way that both sectors work together.

Considering a merger?

Introduction

In today’s difficult financial climate mergers (defined as two or more separate organisations coming together to form one organisation) between voluntary organisations are being encouraged by interested parties such as the Charity Commission, government and other funding bodies.

A number of high profile charity mergers have taken place in recent years and debates about the pros and cons of mergers are a recurrent feature in the voluntary sector press.

10 top tips on collaborating for funding

1. Sign a partnership agreement
This is a MUST MUST MUST! A partnership agreement should outline in detail what each partner will do, with deadlines. Be as specific as possible, to avoid disputes later on.
 
If the bidding process is over a long period, you may want to sign a short initial agreement which states your intention to work together, with a view to making a more detailed agreement if the funding bid is successful.
