Where we work

KCSC works in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in inner west London. The borough is one of the smallest of London's 32 boroughs and the most densely populated area in the UK, an estimated population of 174,000 in 2003. It is also one of London's most ethnically diverse areas, with over 100 languages spoken by pupils in the borough's schools.

Kensington and Chelsea also demonstrates gaps in wealth and health. It is one of the richest areas in the UK and has the highest life expectancy for women in England and Wales, and the third highest for men.

However, there are neighbourhoods with high levels of poverty and deprivation, especially in the north of the borough where one quarter of the residents live in social housing. There is a life expectancy gap of 12 years between the healthiest and unhealthiest areas.
