About KCSC
Kensington & Chelsea Social Council (KCSC) works to support locally focused voluntary and community organisations serving local residents. We aim to develop a strong local sector voice to influence decision makers and encourage sector campaigning and lobbying to improve the quality of life of residents of Kensington and Chelsea.
Our main roles are:
- Building the capacity of voluntary organisations
- Co-ordinating and representing the voluntary sector
- Assessing needs and providing training
- Providing useful information and resources
- Inspiring and developing community health initiatives
In 2008-09 we provided direct support to 222 local organisations and groups.
KCSC is part of a network of organisations throughout the UK that act as umbrella bodies for voluntary organisations.
KCSC's work covers the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. KCSC was formed in April 2002 following the merger of Chelsea Social Council and Notting Hill Social Council. Notting Hill Social Council was originally formed in the late 1950s in the aftermath of the social disturbances in the area and Chelsea Social Council was established in 1968 to meet local needs.
