Internships at NICOLA
NICOLA is a small, fast-growing non-profit organisation that provides opportunities for young people to get involved in creative activities whilst developing their professional skills.
They are currently recruiting for three intern positions:
- Administrator (part-time)
Support the Director and Project Manager administratively
Accounts data entry
Website administration and membership
Volunteer processing – CRBs, references, HR files etc
Other ad hoc administration - Marketing Officer (part-time)Devise and implement a marketing strategy for our Summer Fesitval
Gain sponsorship and in kind contributions for our festival
Collate marketing packs and supervise flyer/poster production
Liase with potential sponsors - Event Co-ordinator (part-time)Coordinating various aspects of festival, including venue management
Liaising with relevant festival staff
Liaising with schools and youth clubs trying to raise attendance
Ensuring all programme needs are met with appropriate facilities
Management of set up and pack up on the day
These are unpaid positions but your expenses will be covered. We are looking for someone to work 2 - 3 days per week and require a minimum 3 month commitment. This is a great opportunity to build experience working within an arts organisation and event management. At the end of the internship there could be possibility to join the organisation or we can offer a reference to help you in future employment.

The governments’ White Paper, “Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS” published on July 12th 2010 outlined comprehensive restructuring across the NHS, including abolishing PCTs and the proposed role of LINks under Healthwatch. K&C LINk invite you to this public consultation meeting on the white paper.
- Hear information around the proposed plans for the NHS and have your say on the future for the LINk as a Local HealthWatch.

Representatives from the NHS K&C, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the Practice Based Commissioners (Panel discussion)

NICOLA needs artists for the exhibition at their Talent Factory Festival on September 25th 2010.
The Talent Factory Festival 2010 will include performances from several DJ’s, bands and young artists; a series of free interactive workshops in music, dance, acting, circus acrobatics and visual arts; stalls offering free refreshment; a live graffiti canvas; an art installation and an art exhibition.
If you are interested displaying your work (in any medium) in our exhibition please get in touch. Remember to include

- Why you want to participate in NICOLA’s Talent Factory Festival 2010 project

Training:
Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a 2 day accredited course which aims to equip people with the skills and knowledge to:
- Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others
- Provide help to prevent a mental health problem becoming more serious
- Raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
- Promote the recovery of good mental health
- Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem
- Reduce stigma and discrimination
Remaining dates for 2010 are October 14th and 21st. The course is free to unwaged or low income individuals and £50 for funded organisations.

Giving World Online - Website allows community groups to access free goods
Giving World Online (GWO) is a scheme set up to help to community groups and charities access free surplus goods from businesses and organisations whilst at the same time helping reduce the amount of goods sent to landfill.
In the next three months GWO will be engaging with businesses in the London and Greater London region to encourage them to use GWO's free service to redirect their surplus goods onto charities and groups.
The service is focussing efforts to engage more businesses to directly help community groups in their locality.
