Local NHS organisations

NHS Kensington & Chelsea
  • This organisation is responsible for planning for the health needs of the local population, and it commissions services from provider organisations. These could be private companies and voluntary organisations as well as NHS organisations.

Inner North West London Primary Care Trusts
  • NHS Kensington & Chelsea is now operating in partnership with the NHS commissioning organisations in Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham in order to make financial savings.
  • The same people are now running the three organisations and services are being planned across the three boroughs. This is an interim measure (see 'West London Clinical Commissioning Group' below).
Public health
  • The public health department is currently part of Inner North-West London Primary Care Trusts, but will be transferred to the local council in 2012.
Central London Community Healthcare
  • NHS community service provider organisation (dieticians, pediatrists, district nurses, falls prevention, community dental services, sexual health and contraception services, etc)

Central North West London NHS Trust (CNWL) 
  • NHS mental health services provider organisation covering 8 boroughs including Kensington & Chelsea.

West London Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Local GPs and other clinicans have formed a consortium which will eventually take over the role of the primary care trusts.
  • The consortium covers all GPs in K&C plus Queen’s Park and Paddington.
  • This consortium has won ‘pathfinder’ status from the Department of Health, which means that it will be testing the new commissioning process before the system is extended across all of England.
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
  • The NHS Trust that runs St Mary’s, Queen Charlotte’s, Charing Cross and some other local hospitals.

Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Trust
