On the radar - public health services delivered by VCOs

On the Radar database was set up by London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC) in October 2011. It contains in-depth information about voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations that deliver public health services in London.

On the Radar database is being developed to ensure that:

  • VCS organisations raise the profile of their work and demonstrate their impact to a relevant audience of public health commissioners decision-makers, increasing opportunities for organisations to deliver public health contracts in the future;
  • London's public health commissioners are supported to identify gaps in services and work with VCS organisations to develop ways to address these; and
  • VCS organisations can use the database to research possible partner organisations in their area or find out more about a range of other public health services delivered by VCS organisations.

As On the Radar is still in its infancy, it mainly contains information about alcohol services. However, drug, mental health, healthy eating, physical activity and many others will gradually be added as the database expands.
