Up to 1,000 families in Kensington and Chelsea face being forced into temporary B&B accommodation by the introduction of a cap on payments to housing benefit recipients.
A report in the Guardian newspaper has highlighted the problem the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea faces. The capping on housing benefit, due to be introduced from January 2012 will mean current tenants can no longer afford high private sector rents and many will face being temporarily housed outside of the borough. The Council have described the situation as "unacceptable".
