Campaigns

Campaigning is an important part of the role of voluntary and community sector organisations. It is one of the ways in which we can bring about change to benefit our local communities.

In this borough we have a rich tradition of voluntary sector campaigning stretching back over the last 50 years and it is something we at the Social Council are very proud of. 

Today we still see our campaigning role as central to our activities and we currently support the following campaigns:

It is not immediately obvious to all that poverty exists in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The borough is one of the richest local authority areas in the country and it boasts the highest property prices in the UK. However, in amongst this wealth and prosperity sit deep pockets of poverty and deprivation.
The harm done to our environment is an issue that affects everybody. It is not only global issues such as the warming of the atmosphere and rising sea levels that are of concern. In built up areas such as Kensington and Chelsea local residents suffer from health problems related to pollution making the problem an immediate one for many.
Spending cuts already announced by central and local government are having a big impact on local voluntary and community organisations and local communities. We believe that in a time of austerity we must do all we can to protect services that reach out to the vulnerable and most marginalised sections of our community.
